What is Chinese Drywall?

It is drywall made in China that has been installed in some homes and businesses in a few areas of South Florida and the Gulf Coast of Florida during the construction boom during 2004-2007. It appears that this drywall was made with higher levels of toxic chemicals and emits sulfur gases and an odor. Just recently it has been known to cause mild to severe health affects as well as damage to copper pipes and electrical fixtures. Because this is a relatively new problem the EPA and the Florida Department of Health (DOH) has just begun doing its investigations on Chinese drywall and its affects. The DOH has no data suggesting that there is any imminent or chronic health hazards and it does not understand if there are any long term health effects when exposed to Chinese drywall during long periods of time.

More information about Chinese drywall is located on the Florida Department of Health website. For any questions regarding Chinese drywall, where to get an inspection for Chinese drywall, or any other property damage issue such as water, mold, fire or biohazard; please feel free to contact our office toll free at 866-509-4561.
